Bonni Messner joined the sports medicine staff with Augusta University Athletics in January 2017. Messner’s primary responsibilities are covering volleyball and women’s basketball and assisting in the care of all 13 NCAA sports and its athletes.
Prior to joining the Jaguars, Messner was a staff athletic trainer at GR Health Sports Medicine providing coverage as the athletic trainer for local high schools such as Cross Creek High School (2005-2009) and Augusta Preparatory Day School (2009-2016.) Before coming to Augusta, she was the athletic trainer at Truett McConnell College and White County High School in Cleveland, Ga., from 2003-2005.
From Barberton, Ohio, Messner attended Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., from 1994-1998 where she played volleyball on the 1994 and 1995 teams and graduated in 1998 with a BS in Exercise Science/Athletic Training. She attended North Georgia College and State University from 2001-2003 and graduated with a Master of Education in 2003.
Messner is a National Athletic Trainers’ Association Certified Athletic Trainer, National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.
