Kayla Berns Named Graduate Assistant For Compliance

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Former volleyball standout at Armstrong State University and Augusta native Kayla Berns has joined the Augusta University athletic department as a graduate assistant for compliance and academic services.

Berns will assist Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics Kay Allen with all aspects of the department including academic support, compliance monitoring, and training and education.

Born Kayla Cheyenne Berns in Honolulu, Hawaii, Berns attended Armstrong State University in Savannah, Ga., from 2012-2016. She graduated magna cum laude in 2016 with a bachelor of arts in English.

Berns received the Women's Empowerment Student Leader award in 2016 and helped the Pirates win the Peach Belt Conference regular season for three seasons.

Berns is the daughter of Thomas and Nikol Berns. Her father, Thomas, played football at St. Ambrose College. Berns is pursuing her master's in business administration. She is interested in education and sports and her hobbies include reading and do-it-yourself projects.
