AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University Director of Athletics Clint Bryant has announced the hiring of Christina Whetsel as the department's new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance.
"We couldn't be more excited to have someone like Christina join our team," Bryant said. "She has experience and a level of expertise in the NCAA and dealing with compliance that will assist us right away in athletics. I look forward to the leadership Christina will bring to our executive team and the influence she will have on the future of the department."
Whetsel transitioned from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas where she spent 12 years with the Rams. In 2006 she was hired as the director of compliance and student athlete services, before her title changed to director of athlete compliance in 2001 to better reflect her expanded responsibilities. She also serves on the Division II Academic Requirements Committee for the NCAA.
An Angelo State graduate, Whetsel was an all-conference performer for the Rambelle soccer team during the early years of the program from 1995-99. She then served as a graduate assistant coach. Whetsel still ranks among ASU's career leaders in several statistical categories and still holds the single-game and single-season assists records for the Rambelles.
A native of Austin, Texas, Christina moved to Augusta with her husband, Daniel and their daughter Norah.
