Augusta Outhits Valdosta State In 6-4 Loss

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University baseball team hosted the Valdosta State Blazers for a non-conference single game at Lake Olmstead Stadium and fell 6-4 on Wednesday despite outhitting the Blazers 11-8.


Augusta (2-9) left 16 runners on base, while VSU stranded six. Two Augusta errors helped out the Blazers in a tight game down to the finish.


Junior Harrison Moore went 3-for-5 with a run and RBI for Augusta, junior leadoff hitter Devin Bilardello was 2-for-3 with a run and junior Zach Goble and senior Ty Hobbs also had two hits. Senior Jim Wagner also had a home run for the Jags.


Senior Tony Jones made the start on the mound for AU and pitched two innings to allow three hits for two runs. Chase Slone (0-2) came in and tossed 3.1 innings to get three strikeouts and the loss, before Brennen Berger, Aron Chick, and David Hagelston pitched in relief.


AU heads to Americus, Ga., for a Peach Belt Conference series against Georgia Southwestern Feb. 23-24.
