Augusta, GA -- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team used a 21-3 second half run to pull out a 72-63 victory against USC Aiken at the ASU Athletic Complex. With the win the Jaguars move into a first place tie with the Pacers in the North Division of the Peach Belt Conference. Both squads are now 13-6 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
With the win the Jaguars evened the season series with the Pacers, after USCA posted a 53-51 win at the Courthouse two weeks ago.
T.J. Ott scored a career-high 25 points on nine of 15 shooting from the floor. Russell Hinder and Gary Boodnikoff chipped in with 15 points in the winning effort. Rounding out ASU’s double figure scorers was Festus Hawkins with 11 points. Hawkins also provided ASU with a spark by notching six blocks and five assists.
Dain Brown led head coach Mike Roberts’ squad with 23 points on seven of 14 from the floor. Chris Robinson chipped in with 14 points.
Augusta State shot 51 percent from the floor for the game, while the Pacers shot 38 percent from the floor. ASU outrebounded the Pacers 34-24, including six rebounds each for Boodnikoff and Hawkins.
The Jaguars take to the road on Saturday as they travel to Greenwood for a 7:30 p.m. contest with Lander University. ASU enters the contest with a six-game winning streak against the Senators.
