ASU Moves Back Into First Place With 70-63 Win Over UNC Pembroke

Augusta, GA -- Augusta State University’s men’s basketball team defeated UNC Pembroke 70-63 Wednesday night at the ASU Athletic Complex. With the win, and USC Aiken’s loss to USC Spartanburg, the Jaguars move back into a first place tie with the Pacers in the Peach Belt North Division. ASU is now 14-7 overall and 8-3 in the PBC, while the Braves fall to 5-15 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

Gary Boodnikoff struggled from the floor with a five of 15 shooting performance, but still managed to lead the team in scoring with 19 points. Festus Hawkins and Russell Hinder chipped in with 12 points each. Hawkins added another double-double on the night with 15 rebounds. Chris Harriman closed out ASU’s double figure scorers with 11 points.

The Braves were led by Adrian Prioleau’s 14 points. Derrick Stinson chipped in with 10 points on the night.

ASU was outrebounded by the Braves 36-35. The Jaguars shot 34.5 percent from the floor and 20.7 percent from three-point range. The Braves shot 40 percent from the floor and 25 percent from long range.

The Jaguars will celebrate Homecoming on Saturday as they host North Florida to the ASU Athletic Complex at 7:30 p.m.
