Jaguars Land Top Seed, To Host Regional

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State will play host to its third straight Southeast Regional on March 14, 15 and 17, according to an announcement late Sunday night from the NCAA national headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Jaguars (26-4) learned of their postseason fate during a selection show gathering in Christenberry Fieldhouse on ASU's Forest Hills campus.

The Peach Belt Conference regular-season champion and PBC Tournament champion, ASU will be the regional's No. 1 seed and take on eighth-seeded Tusculum on Saturday in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The tournament will make the Jags' third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth trip to the Big Dance in the past nine seasons.

Game times and ticket information for the four NCAA Tournament first-round games will be finalized during an NCAA conference call on Monday, March 9.

The Peach Belt Conference will be represented in the Southeast Regional, with the top-seeded Jaguars, No. 2 seed USC Aiken, No. 3 seed Armstrong Atlantic State and No. 4 seed Georgia College & State.

ASU will take on Tusculum in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers (20-10) fell 63-61 to Catawba in the championship game of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. ASU last faced Tusculum during the 2005-06 season, splitting a home-and-home series with the Pioneers.

The other regional matchups will feature No. 2 USC Aiken vs. No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne, No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State vs. No. 6 Catawba and No. 4 Georgia College & State vs. No. 5 Barton.
