– Augusta State's Garret Siler earned
All-Tournament honors at the conclusion of the Portsmouth
Invitational Tournament on April 11.
The only Division II product to earn an invitation to the prestigious event, Siler ranked second in field goal percentage (.636), fourth in scoring (16.7 ppg.) and eighth in rebounding (8.3 rpg.) in the four-day, 12-game showcase that featured the top 64 NCAA seniors in the nation.
The 57th annual PIT, the oldest amateur basketball tournament in the country, is the only postseason, pre-NBA Draft camp held exclusively for the top college seniors around the nation.
A 7-0, 291-pound center from Augusta, Ga., Siler became the second player in school history to earn first-team, All-America honors by the NABC on Tuesday, March 24. He led the nation in field goal percentage among all divisions for the third consecutive season (.789) and ranked ninth in the country in blocked shots at 2.6 bpg.
On the season, Siler averaged 16.2 points and 7.7 rebounds and was tabbed the NCAA Southeast Regional's Most Outstanding Player after leading ASU to the NCAA Southeast Regional title on March 17.
The only player in the Peach Belt Conference to rank in the top five in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots, Siler closed his collegiate career with 1,599 points scored, the seventh-best total in school history and the eighth-best mark in PBC history.
