AUGUSTA, Ga. – Looking for the program's fifth Peach Belt Conference Tournament title, the Augusta University men's basketball team will begin postseason play Saturday, Feb. 25 hosting Montevallo in the PBC Tournament quarterfinals. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. inside Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Jaguars enter the tournament after winning the PBC regular season title with a 22-6 overall record and a 14-5 conference mark – the best across the entire league. With the title, Augusta is the PBC East Division's number one seed in the tournament.
General admission tickets for the quarterfinal game are available at the door for $8. The cost is $3 for all Augusta University faculty and staff, all military, senior citizens, and children over three years old. All PBC Sports Passes and students with a valid ID from a PBC school are admitted free.
The Jags defeated rival USC Aiken 87-81 on Feb. 22 in the final regular-season game to claim the PBC East Division and earn the top seed.
In the only regular-season meeting between the two teams, the Jags downed Montevallo 73-60 on Jan. 7 in the 'Berry. Augusta head coach Dip Metress is 8-7 all-time against Montevallo entering the matchup.
Augusta owns an 8-7 advantage in the all-time series history between the two teams, which dates back to the 2007-08 season. The Falcons own a 4-2 advantage against Augusta in the postseason, with all four victories coming in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
Montevallo went 17-9 overall and 11-8 in the league this season.
