Norlander Helps Lead Europe To Victory

DENVER, Colo. -- Augusta State All-American Henrik Norlander helped lead Team Europe to its second straight Palmer Cup victory Friday afternoon at Cherry Hills Country Club.

Norlander, the Danderyd, Sweden, native who recently wrapped up a stellar sophomore season for the Jaguars, posted a 2- 2-0 record over four matches on Thursday and Friday.

Team Europe, which owned a 7.5 to 4.5 advantage heading into Friday’s second day of matches, topped Team USA 13-11 overall and, with the victory, pulled even in the all-time series at 6-6-1.

Adam Mitchell (Georgia) topped Norlander 3-and-2 in the last singles match Friday afternoon. In their morning alternate shot match, Norlander and partner Robin Wingardh (Tennessee) were edged by Oklahoma State’s Morgan Hoffman and Georgia Tech’s Cameron Tringale 1-up.

The Palmer Cup is an annual Ryder Cup-style competition between American collegiate golfers and their counterparts from Europe.
