AUGUSTA - Texas captured its second consecutive Insperity Augusta State Invitational title in dramatic fashion Sunday afternoon at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The fourth-ranked Longhorns edged the host Jaguars by two shots down the stretch when UT freshman Brandon Stone carded birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. ASU's Robin Petersson, playing alongside Stone, birdied the 18th hole for the final margin.

The victory was the second in as many years for the Longhorns over ASU. Texas, the defending national champions and highest ranked team in the field, carded a 3-under 285 on the day. With a 4-under 284, Virginia Tech bested the Longhorns by one shot for the day's low round. Georgia took third, one shot back of the Jags, while the Hokies moved up to fourth and South Carolina was fifth.

Coastal Carolina senior Sebastian Soderberg fired a 6-under 66 in regulation, then outlasted Central Florida's Greg Eason in a tourney-record, five-hole playoff to claim medalist honors. Soderberg, who began the day in 11th place, became the second Chanticleer to win the Insperity title, joining former All-American Dustin Johnson (2007). (Read More)
