Jags Tied For Seventh After 36 Holes At Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Augusta University men's golf team is in a tie for seventh place with Chattanooga after two rounds in the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee. Augusta dropped eight strokes from its team score with a 4-under-par 284 on Monday and is even par for the event with one round to go.

 

 

Hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer, the Linger Longer started its three-day format Sunday on the par-72, 7,073-yard course. Augusta was paired with UNC Greensboro and Chattanooga to start day one and finished 10th (+4). They improved by three spots on the leaderboard in day two.

 

No. 8 nationally-ranked Alabama was overtaken by Georgia in the first round and UGA still sits atop the leaderboard at 18-under-par – one shot ahead of the Crimson Tide.

 

Augusta senior Broc Everett and freshmen Alex Shead and Olof Gunnarsson are tied for 19th (-1) to lead the team. Everett fired AU's low round of 69 (-3) on Monday and Shead and Gunnarsson signed for a 71 (-1) after each shooting even par in round one.

 

Sophomore McCullough Pickens dropped a stroke in round two and is I 42nd and freshman Lake Hinton rounds out AU in a tie for 78th.

 

The tournament concludes on Tuesday, March 20 with the final round at Great Reynolds Lake Oconee.
