Jags Beat Belmont Abbey 4-0 After Four Hour Rain Delay

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis team won a 4-2 non-conference match over the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon at Newman Tennis Center

 

The non-conference contest moved Augusta to 4-2 on the season. After a four hour rain delay, the match took place under the lights at Newman Tennis Center.

 

Freshman Ricard Rubio won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to put the Jaguars on top and senior Joao Ferreira won a pair of 6-2 matches at No. 3 singles. A final win by freshman Lucas Bolle in the fifth singles slot moved the Jaguars ahead. AU took two of three doubles matches to win 4-0 over the Crusaders.

 

The Jaguars play their first Peach Belt Conference match on Friday, Feb. 22 at 2:00 p.m. against Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.
