Augusta Men’s Track Fifth After Two Days At The PBC Championships

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Augusta University men's outdoor track and field team sits in fifth place after two days of competition at the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Championships on the campus of the University of Montevallo.


Competition commenced on Thursday with a full day of events and continued on Friday with men's and women's teams competing at the University of Montevallo. UNC Pembroke leads the event, PBC associate members Nova Southeastern and Florida Tech are second and third, Columbus State fourth, Augusta fifth, Montevallo sixth, and Clayton State seventh.


Augusta senior Taylor Coxwell won the decathlon with 5,972 points in events on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, Coxwell won the shot-put portion with a time of 10.16m, the high jump with a reach of 1.85m, and the 100m dash (11.45) and 400m dash (51.35). He took second in the discus and won the 110m hurdles to highlight Friday.


Ranked nationally in the 100m dash, Kudakwashe Nyahuma placed third in 10.58, while Andrew Folk fought for sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 49.51 in the first day of action


Anderson Constant grabbed fourth place in the long jump (7.03m) and Daniel Langston sealed seventh in the javelin throw (44.90m) in the first day of play. Constant earned fourth in the 110m hurdles Coxwell carded ninth.


The event concludes on Saturday, April 22 with the final events at the University of Montevallo.
