Jags Break Four School Records In Second Day Of Peach Belt Championships

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Augusta University men's outdoor track and field team concluded another successful day at the Peach Belt Conference Championship with a few podium finishes and top results on Friday at the Dick & Lenore Taylor Track.



The top three athletes in their respective events earned PBC All-Conference accolades. Day two began with senior Taylor Coxwell taking second in the decathlon. Coxwell won the pole vault event in the process with a height of 3.74 meters.


The 4x100 team of freshman Sean McCreary, sophomore Andre Walker, freshman Josh Hewing, and senior Justin Harrison took second and broke a new school record with a time of 41.55.


Several other school records were broken as well. Freshman Daniel Langston set the new discus throw record at 42.21 meters, taking seventh. Sophomore Dalton Carr also broke the record for pole vault with a height of 4.25 meters, finishing sixth in the process. Lastly, in the 200m prelims, Josh Hewing set the record with a time of 22.17, qualifying for the finals on Saturday as well.


Sophomore Zach Fagan finished 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 10.5 meters. In the 3000m steeplechase, Daniel Gibson crossed the line in ninth in 10:18.74.


Coxwell managed to qualify for the 110m hurdles final on Saturday, after taking seventh in the preliminaries with a time of 16.17.  Freshman Jacob Poston also qualified for the 800 meters finals after finishing sixth in the prelims with 1:56.77.
