PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Augusta University men's outdoor track and field team wrapped up day one of the Peach Belt Championships on Thursday at the Dick & Lenore Taylor Track with several strong performances.
The top three athletes in their respective events earn PBC All-Conference accolades.
The Jags also dominated the 10,000 meters, taking second, third, and fourth. Freshman Hunter Kimball finished with a time of 32:25.37 to take second, followed by junior freshman Noah Hullet in 32:29.95 in third, and senior Josh Thompson in 32:40.80 for fourth.
AU sophomore Andre Walker qualified for the 100 meters finals by taking seventh in preliminaries with a time of 11.08. Senior Jacob Poston also qualified for the 1500 meters after finishing sixth in the prelims with a time of 4:08.24. Lastly, Senior Shane Rowand will be competing again, after finishing fourth in in the 400-meter preliminaries with a time of 50.16.
Closing out day one, senior Taylor Coxwell stood in second in the decathlon after five events and will be looking to push into first on Friday.
The Jaguars will want to build off their strong day one performances, and will be in action on April 20-21, for days two and three of this year's Peach Belt Conference Championships.
