AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference announced Augusta State senior shortstop Kacee Camp to the conference All-Academic squad Wednesday.
Camp, a senior biology major with a 3.88 GPA, has been a leading offensive force in the conference her entire career. The 2012 first-team All-PBC selection and CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee hit .382 with 19 extra-base hits, 27 RBI, 32 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases. She ranked in the top 10 of the Peach Belt in seven offensive categories and the top 15 in three others, helping lead ASU to its fourth consecutive NCAA Regional.
The 2007 Freshman of the Year registered the highest grade point average in the conference, and is the third Augusta State player to be named All-Academic by the PBC, joining cross country's Robert Blackwelder and Lyndsay Nichols.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.
The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
