JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Augusta University softball team played a non-conference doubleheader at No. 20 nationally-ranked Carson-Newman on Sunday afternoon and lost two close games, 2-1 and 3-1 at Vickee Kazee-Hollifield Softball Complex.

The games were originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, but inclement weather forced a change. Augusta is now 1-7 on the young season, with the C-N Eagles moved to 7-3.

Next up, AU plays at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. on Tuesday, Feb. 20 for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference doubleheader.

Sophomore Courtney Browne pitched six innings for the Jags and only allowed four hits for two runs (one earned). Seniors Lindsey Stokes and Ashely Boyd each had two hits for AU.

The Eagles scored solo runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning, before Augusta plated its lone run in the last at bat when senior Kelsea Hunter scored junior Lydia Hausman on a sacrifice fly.
