MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- Three Lady Jaguars scored double digits to help lead Augusta State University to victory over the University of Montevallo 73-65 Saturday in the UM Coca-Cola/Guesthouse Inn Classic.
Ernesia Wideman led ASU with 23 points and five assists, while Alshaa Hodges collected 22 points and five steals. Brandi Hollingsworth scored 12 points.
ASU jumped off to an early 15-0 lead, but the Lady Falcons rallied with 10 straight points to cut the lead to five (15-10). ASU managed to grow their lead before the half, taking an 11-point lead (40-29) into halftime. The Lady Jaguars' lead was as large as 17 during the second half before UM brought it to five points (58-63) with 2:16 remaining in the game after scoring an 18-6 run.
Four players scored double digits for the Lady Falcons, led by Malissa Harris with 14 points. Tiffany Hollon and Brandi Roberts each scored 12 points, while Monique Street added 11 points. Roberts and Harris grabbed seven rebounds each while Edwina Johnson had seven assists.
Augusta State next travels to Aiken, S.C. Nov. 28 to face off against Newberry in the Honda Cars of Aiken Classic, hosted by USC Aiken. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
