AUGUSTA, Ga. - With wins in five straight and in six of their last seven games, the Augusta State Lady Jaguars moved up in the second NCAA South Atlantic Regional poll of the 2007-08 season. The poll was released late Wednesday afternoon from the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.
The fifth-ranked Lady Jaguars are one of five Peach Belt Conference schools in the top 10. In fact, four of the first five teams in the poll represent the PBC, including No. 1 Francis Marion, No. 2 Clayton State, No. 4 Columbus State, No. 5 ASU and No. 9 Lander. The Lady Jags own a 4-3 record against the other teams in the poll.
The top eight teams in the final South Atlantic Regional poll of the regular season will earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Lady Jags, who currently sport a 15-5 overall record and a 9-4 mark in the PBC, are coming off a 72-62 victory over UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
ASU takes on league nemesis Clayton State on the road on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in Morrow, Ga.
