SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Armstrong Atlantic State's Brittany Reddy connected on a jumper with 54 seconds left and the Lady Pirates added a pair of late free throws to slip past Augusta State 77-73 Saturday afternoon in Alumni Arena.

The contest marked the Peach Belt Conference opener for both teams.

With the loss, the Lady Jaguars slipped to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the league, while Armstrong improved to 4-2 and 1-0 in the PBC.

ASU senior guard Blaire Egardo paced the squad in scoring for the fourth straight game with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Sophomore forward Waneta Carlisle booked 14 points and seven rebounds and sophomore guard Morgan Goss netted career bests in points (eight) and rebounds (seven). Senior forward Ferderica Holloman and junior forward Chanelle King, both seeing their first action of the season, combined for 11 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes.

Arpine Amirkhanyan enjoyed a monster game for the Lady Pirates, posting a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Mauri Wells netted 13 points and 10 rebounds and Brooke Long managed 13 points of her own. Jazmine Walker added 11 points and five steals.

Armstrong jumped out to a 15-5 lead over the first 5:09 of the game before the Lady Jags battled back with a 10-0 run in a span of only 1:28. ASU went up by as much as five on a jumper from King at the 8:40 mark.

In a contest that featured 13 ties and 12 lead changes, the Lady Jags moved out to an eight-point lead in the second half following an Egardo 3-pointer and a free throw from Carlisle with 13:10 remaining. The Lady Pirates answered with seven straight points before ASU went back up by four on a Jarquella Woods' layup at the 8:10 mark. An Egardo 3-pointer -- her final one of the game -- put the Lady Jags ahead 63-58 with 5:45 to go.

Two free throws from Long pulled AASU even at 67-all with 3:28 left before ASU took its last lead on a Carlisle jumper with 2:15 to play. Walker and Brittany Reddy scored on back-to-back possessions for the Lady Pirates, the last with 54 ticks left, to give the Lady Pirates the lead for good. Wells sealed the win on a pair of free throws with four seconds left.

ASU shot just 36 percent from the field, but connected on a season-high nine 3-pointers. The Lady Jags forced 24 Armstrong turnovers and outscored the Lady Pirates' bench 38-4.

The Lady Jags break for final exams before hosting non-conference foe Clark-Atlanta on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 2:00 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
