  • Jaguars Capture PBC Basketball Team Sportsmanship Award

    AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University and Flagler College were named the 2015-16 recipients of the women’s and men’s Team Sportsmanship Awards the Peach Belt announced on Wednesday. The Peach Belt Conference presents one such award for each of its 15 championship sports. The award is selected by the other conference teams in that sport.

    GAFFNEY, S.C. – The eighth-seeded Augusta Jaguars (24-9) reached the NCAA Division II Tournament Southeast Region Championship game and were outlasted 72-65 by Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion (24-8) on Monday night in the Timken Center on the campus of Limestone College. The Jags reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in program history.

The Jags advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since the 2004 season.

    COLUMBUS, Ga. – Augusta University women’s basketball head coach Nate Teymer was named the Peach Belt Co-Coach of the Year, the conference announced Friday night at the PBC Awards Banquet. This is the second PBC Coach of the Year award for Teymer in the last four seasons. He shares this year’s honor with Columbus State head coach Jonathan Norton.

The win is the first in the PBC tournament for the Jags since Feb. 28, 2007 when they beat Francis Marion.

Lander grabs the eastern title in the PBC with the win.
