Women’s Hoops Falls To All-Army In Season-Opening Exhibition Game

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Augusta University women's basketball team stepped on the Christenberry Fieldhouse gym floor for their first on-court action of 2015-16 on Sunday, Nov. 1 to take on the All-Army team and the Jaguars dropped an 84-61 battle.

The Jags had to battle their way through the All-Army full-court press to start the afternoon. Augusta went down to start the game and controlled the first quarter slightly with a 16-15 scoring advantage.

The Halftime score went to All-Army and the Jaguars couldn't overcome the deceit to eventually fall 84-61 after four quarters. All women's basketball games are now four quarters instead of two halves due to NCAA rule changes.

Senior Kariel Hutt led the Jags with 15 points and nine rebounds, while junior Kayla Lovett and senior Camille Gee each provided nine points in their respective starts.

All-Army won the rebound battle 35-31 and shot 83.3 percent from the charity stripe to the Jags' 53.8.

The Jaguars play at the Conference Carolinas/ Peach Belt Conference Challenge on Nov. 13 to take on Southern Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. in Central, S.C.
