DAHLONEGA, Ga. – With a successful run in non-conference play to start to the season that earned them each regional rankings, the Augusta University women's and men's basketball teams start Peach Belt Conference play this Friday, Dec. 16 at the University of North Georgia in Memorial hall.
The women tipoff at 6:00 p.m. and the men's game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
LADY JAGS PREVIEW
The Lady Jags (4-1) are averaging 75.4 points through their first five games, with their only loss coming on the road at West Georgia. Augusta sits atop the PBC East Division and the Nighthawks are in the third in the PBC West Division.
Jaguar senior preseason All-Conference selection Breonna O'Conner is sixth in the Peach Belt with 16.6 points per game. Junior Abrea Harris is fifth with a 55.6 field-goal percentage and sophomore Brianna Middleton is shooting 54.8 percent from the floor to rank sixth.
UNG's Kelsey Hutchins leads the league in free throws (52-of-60) and is third with an 86.7 free-throw percentage. Hutchins is second in points per game and points (19.3 ppg, 154) and fifth in field goals (50-of-97). Jordan Livesay has hit 21-of-52 threes to lead the PBC and Amber Skidgel is second with 19-of-50.
Head Coach Nate Teymer is 4-4 against North Georgia. Their last meeting came in on Feb. 28, 2016 in the PBC Tournament Quarterfinal where the Jags had five score in double figures to win 75-59.
