Women’s Golf Looks To Repeat As Hosts Of 3M Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. –The Augusta University women's golf team welcomes 14 Division I teams for the 12thannual 3M Augusta Invitational March 17-19 at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.

TEAMS (14)Augusta, Coastal Carolina, Columbia, Daytona State, Eastern Michigan, East Tennessee State, James Madison, Kennesaw, Memphis, Ole Miss, Purdue Tennessee, Troy, and Virginia Tech.

Round one begins on Friday, March 17 with tee times going off one and ten from 9:30 – 11:50 a.m. Round two on Saturday is the same format as the first round and round three on Sunday will be a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.

Since its beginning in the 2004-05 season, the Jaguars' home event has maintained a reputation of drawing nationally prominent teams and players to Augusta for one of Division I golf's top events. The tournament dates were moved from the fall to the spring for the 2009-10 season, where it has remained to this day.

Augusta won last year's 3MAI and owned the 16-team field at three-under par to win by 10 strokes at Forest Hills. It was the second team win for the Jaguars in their home event after claiming the title in the 2005-06 season.

The Jaguars have taken home individual medalist honors three times. Casey Kennedy won the 2011 title, Amanda Smith in 200, and Lauren Smith in 2005. The Jaguars finished runnerup in 2006-07, 2007-08, 2009-10, 2010-11, and 2011-12.
