The selection for the Jaguars is the seventh in the 16-year history of the program and it will mark the second-straight trip for Augusta head coach Caroline Hegg in her second season at the helm of the program.
"It's always great to be able to play in your home state, but especially for an NCAA Regional," Hegg said. "This is a course that a few of our players and I are very familiar with. Now our challenge is to work as hard as possible and to represent Augusta University in the NCAA Championship."
Seventy-two teams and 24 individuals were selected to compete at one of four regional championships, each featuring 18 teams and six individuals, May 8-10.
The four regional sites include Scarlet Course/OSU Golf Course, in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by The Ohio State University; The Rawls Course, in Lubbock, Texas, hosted by Texas Tech University; the University of Georgia Golf Course, in Athens, Georgia, hosted by the University of Georgia; and the University of New Mexico Championship Course, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted by the University of New Mexico.
From each of these four regionals, the low six teams and the low three individuals not on those teams (for a total of 24 teams and 12 individuals) advance to the national championships, May 19-24, 2017, hosted by Northern Illinois University at Rich Harvest Farms, in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
This year's women's championships will be broadcast for the third consecutive year by Golf Channel with more than 100 news and tournament hours planned again for the men's and women's golf championships.
