Women’s Tennis Falls To Nationally Ranked Columbus State

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team hosted its first Peach Belt Conference home match of the season on Sunday morning at Newman Tennis Center and fell in straight sets to nationally ranked Columbus State.

 

The Jaguars moved to 4-3 on the year and 0-2 in the Peach Belt to No. 8 Columbus State. The Cougars improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.

 

Merye Gobernate and Alejandra Gonzalez dropped an 8-3 doubles match and Amelia Pinoargote and Marie Cantenot dropped No. 3 doubles by the same score. CSU swept singles play.

 

Augusta hosts Flagler on Saturday, Feb. 25 for a 10:00 a.m. match at Newman Tennis Center.
