AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team announced its 2018 schedule that begins in February and features 20 total matches.
The Jaguars host seven matches at Newman Tennis Center. Augusta plays all their home matches at NTC, located off of Wrightsboro Road.
Head coach Michael McGrath starts year 20 with the Jaguars as they begin the season Thursday, Feb. 1 in a non-conference match at Clark-Atlanta.
After a trip to Florence, S.C., at Francis Marion University for a two-day tournament Feb. 3-4, the Jaguars welcome Benedict for a home match on Feb. 5 before hitting the road for six straight road contests – including the Peach Belt Conference opening week at Georgia College (Feb. 13) and at Flagler (Feb. 17).
Back-to-back PBC home matches open the month of March for AU when they host Young Harris on March 3 and North Georgia on March 4. AU heads across the Savannah River to take on rival USC Aiken in Aiken, S.C., on March 7 and meets Lander (March 16) and Montevallo (March 18) for two more PBC home matches.
The Jags play Nebraska-Kearney in a neutral-site match March 20 in Hilton Head, S.C., and play another non-conference matchup March 28 versus Alabama-Huntsville. Augusta plays its final regular-season road matches at Georgia Southwestern (March 30) and Columbus State (April 1), and closes the scheduled season on April 6 at home against Francis Marion.
Francis Marion University hosts the Peach Belt Conference Tournament April 20-22 in Florence, S.C. The NCAA Regionals are slated for April 28 – May 1 and the NCAA Finals May 8-12.
