AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference released the bracket for the volleyball tournament which begins this Friday in Milledgeville, Ga., and Augusta University drew the sixth seed to face second-seeded Armstrong State at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
Georgia College hosts the PBC Tournament for the first time starting with four quarterfinal matches on Friday in the Centennial Center. Games begin at 10:00 am. The four winning teams will advance to Saturday's semifinals starting at 2:00 pm with the winners going to the championship game on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
Flagler is the defending tournament champion and are the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2010. USC Aiken owns the No. 2 seed, Armstrong State No. 3, Francis Marion No. 4, Lander No. 5, Augusta No. 6, Georgia College No. 7, and Columbus State No. 8.
Georgia College's loss on Monday night at Armstrong State put them into a tie with Augusta for the sixth and seventh seeds. The Jaguars and Georgia College split the regular, but Augusta gets the tiebreak and No. 6 seed thanks to their four total sets won against the Bobcats. The Jags swept GC 3-0 on Sept. 24 in Augusta and took a set in a 3-1 loss in Milledgeville on Oct. 26.
Augusta went 17-15 in the regular season and fell to Armstrong twice.
The winner of the PBC tournament will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA selections will be announced next Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
