AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars won an 84-73 Peach Belt Conference game over the visiting Flagler Saints on Saturday afternoon in Christenberry Fieldhouse as five players scored in double figures.

Making 29-of-33 free throws (87.9 percent), Augusta held the Saints to 11-of-19 (57.9 percent) shooting from the free-throw line. Flagler outrebounded the Jags 43-38, but a steady shooting offense made the difference.

Augusta freshman Deane Williams started the day with a dunk after the Jags won the opening tipoff and found the rookie in the lane. Williams had two dunks and Augusta had five jams total to ignite the crowd for all the momentum throughout the game.
Fields got in on the dunk party and put down a one-handed slam to lift the Jags up 20-19 with 6:30 in the first half. The first half was Augusta's as they owned a 40-29 score at the break with a 51.9 field-goal percentage.
Holding Flagler to a 33.3 field-goal percentage in the first half, Augusta controlled a safe double-digit lead in the first nine minutes of the second half. Junior Keith Crump found Sherrill for a good three-pointer that put the lead to 58-48.
The Jags strengthened the lead and never relinquished momentum to take an 84-73 final.
Flagler's Matt Clark led the team with 15 points and Vaughn McCall notched 14.
The Jaguars travel to UNC Pembroke on Wednesday, Jan. 27 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. The Augusta Jaguars host Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, Jan. 30 for the PBC doubleheader with Clayton State at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
