AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Former Augusta State standout
Keith Guest makes his professional debut Thursday when he tees off
in the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic at Bartram Trail Golf Club in
Evans, Ga.
The assistant men’s golf coach at Augusta State, Guest was a
two-year starter for ASU in 2006-07 and 2007-08 and helped lead the
Jaguars to the 2008 NCAA Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. He
earned PING All-South Region honors as a senior as well.
Guest, who tees off at 2:00 p.m., is one of four former Jags in the
field. Major Manning, coming off his first professional victory
last weekend in Elgin, S.C., is in the field, as is Thomas Hagler,
who spent two seasons at ASU in 2002-03 and 2003-04 before
transferring to the University of Alabama. Manning and Hagler tee
off at 7:39 a.m. and 1:51 p.m., respectively. Tarik Can, who spent
three seasons on the ASU golf team after transferring from Texas,
is set to tee off at 9:09 a.m.

Three former Jaguar standouts are on the verge of advancing in the
first stage of the European Tour’s qualifying tournament at
Oxfordshire Golf Club in Thame, England.
Former All-American Scott Jamieson is in fourth place after opening
with a nine-under 135 (68-67). Former two-time All-American Jamie
Elson is tied for 10th at six-under 138 (65-73) at the par-72,
7,313-yard layout. He led after an opening-round of seven-under 65.
Wallace Booth, who wrapped up his playing career in 2007, is tied
for 17th at five-under 139 .He followed up his first-round 68 with
a one-under 71.
Another former All-American Kalle Edberg didn’t fare quite as
well, posting 76-73 in his first two rounds at Golf de Moliets in
Moliets, France. He is tied for 90th place
The top 30 players in the 130-player field advance to the second
stage of qualifying school.
