Augusta Men’s Golf Looks To Repeat At NC State Wolfpack

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Augusta University men's golf team returns to the NC State Wolfpack Intercollegiate October 3-4 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course for their third event of the fall. Augusta is the defending champion after winning the 2015 title.

Last year at NC State, Augusta climbed seven spots to finish in first place at five-over par in the 16-team field. 2015-16 senior Robin Petersson won the overall event at six-under par to take the individual trophy. Read about last year's win by clicking here

The NC State men's golf team prepares to host the annual Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate October 3-4 at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on campus. The tournament will be NC State's second competition of the young 2016-17 season and is open to the public with no admission required.

The 2016 Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played over the course of two days. Teams will play 36 holes Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday will feature 18 holes of competition with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.

Known as an excellent and challenging course on the NCAA golf circuit, Lonnie Poole Golf Course hosted the 2014 NCAA Men's Regional and the 2015 NCAA Women's Regional. Located on 250 acres inside the city of Raleigh, the golf course routing is dictated by large elevation changes. It meanders around large buffer areas that were left in place to protect streams and wetlands in the Neuse River watershed. The buffer provides a protected habitat for wildlife and native plant species. Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson, both graduates of the NC State College of Design, were the lead architects.

For the purposes of the Wolfpack Fall Intercollegiate, the golf course will play a par of 71 over 7,358 yards.
