TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2019 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Thursday and the Augusta University men's tennis team was dubbed an All-Academic Team, while six student-athletes were named All-Academic Scholar Athletes. AU sophomore Martin Hurtado, junior Gaspard Mathieu, senior Patrick Oliveira and freshmen Kevin Corenstein, Matheus Fortunato Mendes, and Ricard Rubio made the list as individuals.
This year the Intercollegiate Tennis Association saw an increase in qualifying teams and scholar-athletes. All-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of scholar-athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).
ITA scholar-athletes must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
