AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team hosted the Emmanuel College Lions on Wednesday afternoon and won game one 4-2 in walk-off fashion, before falling 6-3 in non-conference play at Jaguar Field.

The double feature moved Augusta to 12-24 overall and Emmanuel went to 13-19 on the season.

Augusta gave up a pair of runs in the first inning to Emmanuel on three-straight hits. AU responded it its first at bat when senior Auburn Balcorta walked and sophomore Lydia Hausman singled up the middle to cut the lead in half.

The Jaguars trailed Emmanuel 3-1 heading to the sixth inning when they added another run on a line-drive single to centerfield off the bat of senior Lindsey Stokes. Down 3-2, Augusta loaded the bases in its last scheduled at bat and drew a walk to tie the game at 3-3. Stokes came up with two outs and smacked a grounder to the shortstop that scored the go-ahead run for a walk-off win.

Augusta sophomore Morgan Hunter (9-11) started the series on the mound and tossed a complete game with four strikeouts, while allowing seven hits for three runs. Offensively, AU was led by Hausman and senior Kendyl Conner who each had two hits as the team totaled nine.

After Emmanuel etched across a pair of runs in the first inning, Augusta responded with a three spot in its first at bat to steal the lead. EC tied the contest at 3-3 in the second and picked up a few more to win 6-3.

AU sophomore Courtney Browne started pitching, but was relieved by sophomore Jada Jackson in the first inning. Browne allowed two runs on two hits, while Jackson tossed 4.2 innings and gave up nine hits for four runs to get the loss.

Hausman had two more hits for the Jags and Conner picked up two RBI on a hit.
