Augusta Swept At Georgia College To End Regular Season

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Augusta University softball team ended its regular season on Saturday at Georgia College and the Jaguars lost the Peach Belt Conference doubleheader 6-0 and 2-0 at The Peeler Complex.


The final regular-season games of the 2018 season moved the Jaguars to 17-33 overall and 8-12 in the Peach Belt. The Bobcats are now 33-11 on the season and 14-2 in the PBC.



An early 3-0 GC lead in the first inning gave the momentum to the Bobcats and Augusta never caught up. Georgia College carded three more in the sixth and went on to shutout the Jags 6-0.


Sophomore Jada Jackson (2-6) pitched 4.2 for Augusta and allowed six hits for six runs, but only one was earned. Jags sophomore Morgan Hunter tossed 1.1 innings of relief.


GC's Jessie Morris (10-1) struck out seven and held the Jaguars to three hits. Seniors Carolyn Edwards, Lindsey Stokes, and sophomore Lydia Hausman each had a hit for AU.



The second meeting of the day was a low scoring affair. GC singled up the middle in the bottom of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead and went on to hold off the Jaguars


Hunter went five innings on the mound for Augusta and sat down four on strikeouts, while allowing six hits for one run. Seniors Lindsey Stokes and Auburn Balcorta each knocked a hit to combine for AU's two on the game.
