AUGUSTA, Ga. – In a matchup of nationally-ranked teams Friday afternoon, No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic State rolled to a 9-0 victory over No. 13 Augusta State at Newman Tennis Center.
The matches were the first on the Peach Belt Conference schedules for both teams. The Pirates improved to 4-0 and 1-0 in the PBC, while the Jaguars fell from the ranks of the undefeated (5-1, 0-1 PBC).
In the women's matchup, AASU (1-0, 1-0 PBC) enjoyed a successful 2012 debut with a 9-0 victory over the Lady Jags (3-3, 0-1 PBC).
The ASU men travel to UNC Asheville on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 11:00 a.m., while the Lady Jags host Flagler in a league match on Sunday, Feb. 26 at a time still to be determined.
