NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Augusta University women's cross country team is ranked sixth in the NCAA Southeast Region preseason rankings from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) that were released on Tuesday afternoon.

The USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining predicted team finishes at the NCAA Regional Championships.

The Jaguars finished the 2017 NCAA Southeast Region in sixth. Augusta joins Flagler (7th), Georgia College (8th), and UNC Pembroke (9th) as the four Peach Belt Conference teams to make the USTFCCCA preseason ranks.

The Jags open the season on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Bulldog Invitational, hosted by UGA in Athens, Ga.
