AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta State
men's golf team will be honored by the Georgia Sports Hall of
Fame on Friday, Oct. 8 in Macon, Ga.
The Jaguars, who are already in Macon for this weekend's
fourth annual Brickyard Collegiate Championship, will be recognized
with a reception at 4:00 p.m. During the reception, a new exhibit
will be unveiled and dedicated to the 2010 NCAA Division I National
Champion Jaguar men's golf team.
Macon mayor Robert Reichert will be on hand to offer the
city's congratulations to the team and particularly to Macon
native and First Presbyterian Day graduate Taylor Floyd. Ray
Cutright, head golf professional at Idle Hour Country Club and
member of the PGA of America's Board of Directors, is
scheduled to attend to bring greetings from the PGA.
There is no admission charge for the event, which is open to the
public and media.
The tourney's defending champion, ASU shot rounds of 7-under
281 and 6-under 282 to post a 13-shot victory over Chattanooga
before the final round was canceled due to inclement weather.
Patrick Reed tied for third place, while Henrik Norlander, Carter
Newman and Floyd each tied for fifth.
The Jaguars, who will be paired alongside Georgia and Georgia Tech,
tee off Friday morning in the first round of the Brickyard
Collegiate Championship at The Brickyard at Riverside. Live scoring
