AUGUSTA, Ga.
– Montevallo dealt Augusta State their 20th straight loss of
the season on Saturday afternoon in a 65-50 Peach Belt Conference
victory at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
With the win, Montevallo improved to 12-11 on the season and 5-8 in
the conference, while the loss dropped the Lady Jags to 1-23
overall and 0-15 in the league.
Senior Eboni Davis paced the Lady Jags with a team-high 14 points,
while freshman Waneta Carlisle added 13 points and snagged nine
rebounds. Senior Brittany Jarrard booked seven points.
Shan Jones led the Falcons with a game-high 18 points, while Carrie
Parrott netted 12 points and snagged seven rebounds. Alicia Lewis
had 11 points and Manal Cali added nine rebounds and eight
points.
Montevallo outscored the Lady Jags 32-16 in the paint and shot 78.6
percent from the free-throw line, but connected on only 6-of-15
3-point attempts (40.0 percent).
Augusta State forced 17 Montevallo turnovers and shot 85.7 percent
from the free-throw line, but shot only 33.3 percent from the field
and connected on only 6-of-23 3-point attempts (26.1 percent).
Augusta State is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 17, when they
travel to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Flagler in a Peach Belt
Conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.
