PEMBROKE, N.C.
– UNC Pembroke's Jatoya Kemp scored a game-high 23
points to lead the Lady Braves past Augusta State 74-61 Monday in
the English E. Jones Center on the UNCP campus.
The win lifted UNCP to 12-11 overall and 6-8 in the PBC. With the
loss, ASU dropped to 1-21 on the season and 0-13 in the league. The
setback was the 18th in a row for the Lady Jaguars.
Talena Faison added 12 points for the Lady Braves, who shot 44
percent from the field and went 21-of-29 at the free throw
line.
Freshman forward Waneta Carlisle paced the Lady Jags with 18 points
off the bench while Blaire Egardo pitched in 14 points off the
bench, including four 3-pointers. Freshman forward Ashley Brown
booked a career-high 13 points and senior point guard Eboni Davis
chipped in nine rebounds, six assists and two steals. Freshman
Candace Foster hit three 3-pointers to set a career high with nine
points and chipped in three assists and two steals in a careerhigh
29 minutes.
UNCP led the entire way and moved out to a 37-23 lead at the half.
The Lady Jags, who outscored the Lady Braves 38-37 in the second
half, connected on six 3-pointers in the second half and matched
their season high with nine treys in the game.
ASU registered a season-high 45 bench points and outscored UNCP
21-7 on second-chance points. The Lady Jags host Georgia College
& State (15-6, 8-3) on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m., in
Christenberry Fieldhouse.
