NEWPORT COAST, Calif. -- Augusta State registered rounds of 304 and 293 Sunday in the first two rounds of the General Hackler Championship at TPC Myrtle Beach.
The Jaguars are tied for fourth with Auburn, just three strokes back of second-place Tennessee and tournament host Coastal Carolina.
ASU senior Henrik Norlander paced the Jags on the first day of The Hackler. Norlander posted a 3-under 69 in the second round and is tied fourth, just three shots out of the lead at 1-under 143.
Junior Patrick Reed (74-75) is tied for 19th at 5-over 149 while seniors Carter Newman (79-74) is 33rd and senior Mitch Krywulycz (80-75) and freshman Alex Wennstam (77-78) are tied for 43rd. Junior Taylor Floyd, playing as an individual, is tied for 54th following rounds of 85-72.
Virginia moved out to an 11-shot lead over Tennessee and Coastal Carolina. Lamar's Kevin Hesbois shot a 7-under 65 in the second round and owns a two-stroke advantage over Virginia's Amory Davis and Coastal's Sebastian Soderberg.
The Jags open up their third and final round Monday morning between 8:50 and 9:30 Monday morning. The Jags will be paired in foursomes with Coastal, Tennessee and Virginia.
