TUCSON, AZ. – The Augusta University Men's Golf team finished the Arizona Intercollegiate on Tuesday, placing 12
th. After three rounds of play, the Jags shot a 291 in the first round, a 289 in the second, and a 291 in the third for a combined total of 871 (+7) on the par 72 course at Tucson Country Club.
The 14-team field featured a range of top 50 teams in the country. Teams included Arizona, Arkansas, San Francisco, and Duke.
Host Arizona finished the tournament in first place (-35), defeating New Mexico by only one stroke (--34). Arkansas finished third (-29), Brigham Young finished fourth (-12), and Loyola Marymount finished fifth (-10). Santa Clara, New Mexico State, Iowa State, and Duke placed 6-9, while California rounded out the top 10.
Alex van Wyk led the Jaguars tied for 34
th (-1). Following behind van Wyk was
Hampus Wijkstrom who finished in a tied for 64
th (+2).
Gareth Steyn led the Jaguars, shooting a team-low Round 2 score of 68, and a team-low Round 3 score of 69. He finished in a tie for 46
th (-1).
Gareth Steyn finished tied for 50th,
Jack Vajda finished 60
th, and
Viktor Lindgren placed 65
th.

Augusta Men's Golf will travel to Hilton Head, SC for their next tournament. The squad will play in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Feb 21-22.
