AUGUSTA, Ga – The Augusta University women's basketball dropped a 64-54 contest to the No. 15 Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes. Augusta falls to 6-2, 0-1 PBC while Georgia Southwestern improves to 6-1, 1-0 PBC.

The No. 15 Hurricanes got off to a hot start, jumping out to a 12-4 midway through the first quarter. Two made free throws followed by a layup from
Kiera Howard cut the lead to 4. Georgia Southwestern extended its lead to 12 a minute into the second quarter. Augusta answered with a 12-4 run of their own, closing the first half down 25-22.
After a closely contested third quarter, AU forced the lady Hurricanes into a turnover with 28 seconds left in the period. A foul and an additional technical foul by Skylar Christmas sent
Kiera Howard to the free throw line for four consecutive shots. Howard would sink all of them, knotting the game at 42-42 to start the final quarter. AU would take a five-point lead before Georgia Southwestern went on an 11-0 run to regain a lead that would never be relinquished.
Kiera Howard led scoring for Augusta, carding 20 points and 7 rebounds. 14 of her points came from the free-throw line.
Mone Florence scored 9 points while
Tomiyah Alford,
Yamani Paul, and
Malia Grace each carded 7 points.
