ANDERSON, S.C. -Augusta University women's basketball (8-3, -1 PBC) dropped a non-conference road contest to Anderson (7-6, 1-2 SAC) 71-58 on Monday evening at the Abney Athletic Center.

Anderson's ability to draw 27 trips to the foul line and sinking 19 free throws to Augusta's 5-of-11 proved to be the difference in the contest.
The game featured four lead changes and was tied on four occasions.
Both teams traded buckets early in the first quarter. A three-point basket by
Autumn Phillips with five minutes left to play was immediately answered by a three from Anderson's Maggie Campell to push a one-point advantage. The home team would close the quarter on a 13-2 run.
Shooting 43.75 percent in the second quarter, a jumper from
Tomiyah Alford brought Augusta to within three. Four made free-throws at the end of the quarter gave Anderson a 37-30 advantage at halftime.
While both teams were even in points in the paint, Anderson outscored AU 21-11in the third quarter. Augusta held the scoring advantage in the fourth quarter, but would fall 71-58.
Kiera Howard and
Tomiyah Alford would pace the Jaguars with 14 points each. Howard pulled down 7 rebounds.
Autumn Phillips netted 11 points and snagged 4 rebounds.
Kennedi Manning led the rebounding effort with 8.
