MCKINNEY, TX, - The Augusta University Men's Golf program is set to play in its first ever Southland Conference Championship. After leaving the MEAC and joining the league last year, Augusta looks is on the hunt for its first title and Automatic NCAA Regional spot. The tournament is set to begin Monday, April 25, in McKinney, Texas at the Dye Course at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club. The tournament will be conducted through Wednesday April 27. Tee times will start at 7:30 a.m. on all three days.

Seeding order for the event has been determined based upon each team's national Golfstat ranking. Francis Marion currently ranks 130th in the nation and enters the championship as the No. 1 seed. Augusta will be the No. 2 seed, followed by Southeastern at the No. 3 position. New Orleans holds the No. 4 spot, just ahead of No. 5 UIW, No. 6 HBU and No. 7 Nicholls.
Nicholls and HBU will pair off to open the first round, teeing off at 7:30 a.m. CT on hole No. 1. UIW and New Orleans will be grouped together for an 8:15 a.m. start to their pairings, and Southeastern, Augusta and Francis Marion are slated for a 9 a.m. start and will close out the first-round tee times. All pairings are slotted to begin in nine-minute increments, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and the final trio teeing off at 9:36 a.m.
The Dye Course at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club is a par-72 course with a total yardage of 7,219. The front-nine holes are set at 3,521 yards, while the back nine combines for 3,698 yards. This will be the 10th time the Dye Course has served as host of the Southland Men's Golf Championship.
The Southland Champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to one of six regional sites for the 2022 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, scheduled for May 15-18. Additionally, the individual champion, if not a part of the championship team, will be granted an automatic selection into the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Qualifiers from the NCAA Regional Tournaments will earn a spot in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, which will be hosted at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 27-June 1.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
The team championship shall be determined on the basis of fifty-four (54) holes of stroke play unless weather interrupts the schedule, in which case eighteen (18) holes of stroke play shall constitute the minimum number of holes for determining a champion. The tournament shall be conducted over a three (3) day period, with eighteen (18) holes played each day. Each round of the tournament will begin on Hole #1 of the Dye Course.
NCAA AUTOMATIC QUALIFICATION
The winner of the championship shall be the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. In the event the entire tournament cannot be played or a minimum of eighteen (18) holes due to the inclement weather, the conference men's golf program with the highest national Golf Stat ranking will be the representative to the NCAA Championship. The conference tournament individual medalist shall receive an automatic invitation as an individual to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. In the event the entire tournament cannot be played or a minimum of eighteen (18) holes due to the inclement weather, the conference men's golf student-athlete with the highest national Golf Stat ranking shall receive the automatic individual invitation to the NCAA Championship.
Individual and Team Tie-breaking Procedures
Ties shall be broken during a sudden-death playoff counting the low four (4) scores (relative to par). If there are three (3) or more teams involved in a playoff, the shotgun format listed below should be used. The games committee will determine the sequence of holes. Time limitations may also dictate a shotgun start as determined by the games committee. The team playoff will be conducted first if any players involved would also be in a playoff in case of a tie for individuals.
Sudden-Death Playoff Procedures
Teams will draw for positions. For a two-team playoff, the winner of the draw shall have the option of the A or B
positions set forth below. For a playoff involving more than two teams, the teams shall assume the drawn letter
position (A, B, C, etc.) set forth below.
