Box Score COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Augusta University women's tennis team won a 4-1 match against the #4 seeded Georgia College in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the John W. Walden Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
With the win, Augusta avenges a 4-3 loss to Georgia college that closed the regular season for the Jaguars.
In doubles,
Teresa Franco Dias and Julia Moraes handled their opponents 6-2.
Claudia Borbon Roca and
Clara Bascunana deMiguel took a 7-6 battle. Carolta Costa Manero and
Edith Rueda Croda dropped a tight 604 match at the No. 2 doubles spot.
While the No. 1 single contest was unfinished, Julia Moraes prevailed 6-2, 6-2 over Emilia Richter. Clara Basunana deMiguel and
Carlota Costa Manero won their matches handily. Bascunana turned in a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Costa Manero carded a 6-3, 6-4 win
Fifth-seeded Augusta will return Saturday to take on the top seed and host Columbus state at 12:00pm
