COLUMBUS, GA. – The Augusta University men's tennis team saw its 2022-23 season come to a close as the No. 4 seed Jaguars faced off against No. 5 seed North Georgia in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Augusta dropped a 4-0 decision to the Nighthawks. The game marks the third time the two teams have met this season.
Quentin Cano Perez and
Alexis Bailhache won 6-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot before the Jags dropped the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
North Georgia clinched the match with wins in No. 1, No 2, and No. 3 singles, respectively, to close out the match.
Elie Azoulay did take a set over Guilo Sassi in the No. 5 singles before play was stopped.
Augusta closes the season with a 16-10 overall record. North Georgia will face no. 1 seed Columbus State on Saturday.
