AMERICUS, GA –The Augusta University women's basketball team suffered its first Peach Belt Conference loss 74-56 against the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes on Saturday evening. Both teams are now 5-1 in conference play. The Jags return home to host top-seeded Lander on Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 5:30 pm.

Saturday's loss ended a seven-game win streak for AU. The Jaguar offense started the contest hot, jumping out to a 12-7 lead in the first quarter. Both teams traded the lead – AU had a two-point advantage heading into the second quarter.
Mone Florence hit a three-pointer early in the period to take a 21-18 advantage, but the back-and-forth nature of the game continued.
In a game that featured 18 lead changes, Augusta finished the first half down 39-32. The Hurricanes would outscore AU 17-7 in the final quarter to secure the 74-56 win.
Autumn Phillips led the shooting effort with 18 points. Phillips was a sharpshooter on the evening, going 6-for-11 from field goal range and 4-for-6 from behind the three-point arc.
Tomiyah Alford added 10 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
