COLUMBUS, GA – The Augusta University women's basketball team picked up a 67-57 PBC road win over Columbus State Saturday afternoon. With the victory, Augusta improves to 8-4, 2-0 PBC while Columbus State moves to 5-5, 1-1 in conference play.

Autumn Phillips and
Brianna Meekins anchored the AU offense. Phillips carded 19 points, nine rebounds, and an impressive seven steals. Meekins went 7-for-9 from the field and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line to add 17 points.
Yamani Paul added nine points and three rebounds. JeBria Fullwood matched Paul's scoring and added six rebounds of her own.
Mone Florence put eight points on the stat sheet.
For the third straight game, Augusta was dominant in the paint, outscoring the Cougars 38-18. The Jags also capitalized on turnovers, forcing 23 turnovers and scoring 28 points off those turnovers.
Columbus State jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the first quarter, extending the lead to eight points with just under three minutes left to play in the first quarter. A jumper from Phillips sparked a 9-0 AU run to end the quarter and give the Jags a narrow one-point edge heading into the second quarter. The home team outscored Augusta 18-12 in the second quarter to take a 33-28 lead at halftime.
A layup from Florence with seven minutes left in the third gave Augusta its first lead of the second half, 34-33. Both teams would keep it close, with neither team leading by more than four points. After a pair of free throws from Phillips knotted the score at 44-44 early in the fourth quarter, Meekins went on an offensive tear, scoring 15 of the team's final 20 points and leading Augusta to a 67-57 victory.
