AUGUSTA, GA. - After several weeks of getting at it in practice, the women's basketball team will open the regular season this weekend as they take on North Greenville on Friday and Barton College on Saturday, both in Tigerville, S.C.

The Jaguars are picked second in the Peach Belt Conference preseason poll and bring back plenty of senior leadership from last year's tournament team. 

Autumn Phillips has been named to the preseason all-conference team as the senior led the team in scoring a year ago.

With the leadership and experience, coach Celeste Stewart is asking a lot from her student athletes.

"I'm definitely challenging them more this year," said Stewart. "They know what it takes to get to that level of the NCAA Tournament and being able to experience that winning type season, I think it really challenges them to continue to bring that energy and attention to practice because we've been practicing a lot lately."
